FOR YOUR GRAMMY® CONSIDERATION
BEST JAZZ VOCAL ALBUM
SILK Vol. 1
SOFIJA KNEZEVIC

"There are voices that are not just music, but a body of memories, feelings and tender threads that connect us, SILK by Sofija Knezevic is exactly that."- BOLD Magazine
"Silk Vol.1 is more than an album, it’s a slow-burning manifesto of jazz elegance. Sofija Knežević doesn’t just sing, she casts spells. Her voice slips between notes like candlelight through a smoky room, sultry, defiant, and utterly magnetic." - The Village Voice
"Sofija Knežević’s Silk Vol.1 is a masterclass in restraint and soul. With phrasing reminiscent of early Carmen McRae and the fearless intimacy of contemporary jazz master, she charts a course that's uniquely her own." - Jazzer Magazine
ABOUT SILK VOL.1
Silk is the latest album from multi award winning jazz vocalist and composer Sofija Knežević, a work of intimacy, power, and artistry woven with both strength and delicacy. At its heart, the record explores the textures of vulnerability and resilience, threading together stories of womanhood, identity, and transformation with the elegance of its namesake.
Knežević is joined by an extraordinary ensemble of GRAMMY winning musicians: acclaimed pianist Orrin Evans, trombonist/producer Elliot Mason, and, in a deeply personal touch, vocal contributions from Maksim and Katarina Mason on the closing track. The music was recorded at New York’s renowned Bunker Studios by Todd Carder and Elliot Mason, mixed by Mason, and mastered by GRAMMY® Award-winning engineer Alan Silverman.
Musically, Silk balances Knežević’s luminous, improvisation-rich vocals with Evans’s expansive pianism and Mason’s lyrical artistry. The album’s palette flows seamlessly between intricately composed passages and open, breathing spaces where improvisation and raw emotion shine through.
Much like the fabric itself, both delicate and unbreakable - Silk invites listeners into an experience that is at once deeply personal and universally resonant, a meditation on the strength found in softness and the beauty of living fully in one’s truth.
